Sydney harbour bridgemuseum - now open
Since opening on 27 May, BridgeMuseum has welcomed thousands of guests and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive – guests have praised the immersive storytelling, digital interaction and amazing heritage space and views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The revitalised experience replacing the former Pylon Lookout & Museum.
As one of our valued partners, you now have access to a world‑class, reimagined product designed to offer a complementary experience to the unforgettable iconic BridgeClimb experience.
Originally opened in 1934, the South‑East Pylon has been reimagined as an immersive, interactive experience inside the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Through multimedia storytelling, historic artefacts and strong First Nations narratives, visitors can explore the Bridge’s history, engineering and cultural significance in an engaging, self‑guided way.

The BridgeMuseum is housed inside the historic South‑East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. As the Pylon was completed in the 1930s, some structural elements cannot be altered.
To enter and explore the Pylon:
- Visitors walk along an external footpath to reach the entrance.
- There are 200 stairs throughout the experience, from the entry level up through the exhibition spaces to the SkyHouse and back down again.
- As a result, wheelchair and lift access are not available inside the Pylon.
Buses and coaches are permitted to set-down and pick-up passengers on Cumberland Street between Essex Street and Gloucester Street. There are two designated short-term zones, suitable for pick-up and drop-off only:
- Beside YHA Sydney Harbour, 110 Cumberland Street
- Directly beneath the Cahill Expressway overpass, approximately 80 metres from the entrance of the ShangriLa Sydney
After set-down, the group will walk to the Bridge’s pedestrian walkway to reach the BridgeMuseum. This is only a couple of minutes’ walk from both coach zones.
Access to the Bridge’s pedestrian walkway is available via either the stairs or the lift opposite The Glenmore Hotel, 96 Cumberland Street.
From there, it’s an 8–10 minute walk north along the pedestrian walkway to the BridgeMuseum.
Bus and coach parking zones are available at:
- George Street, near Dawes Point Reserve
- Argyle Street, at Kent Street
Due to space restrictions, we’re not able to offer bag storage inside the Museum. We recommend that guests bring a small backpack if they need to carry personal items.
However, we do have bag storage available at BridgeClimb Sydney, 3 Cumberland Street, The Rocks.
